Not a Villain in My Heart

Usually, when I watch dramas or other things I tend to relate to the characters that everyone hates. I feel like a lot of time they're more misunderstood than just evil.
Maybe, it is just my MBTI being INTJ who is also known to be the personality of villains. Seo Moon Jo (Strangers From Hell), Choi Mu Jin (My Name) and Han Ji Pyeong (Start-up) just to name a few.
One is a cannibal, one is a murderer gangster, and every viewer hates another one, but they're said to be INTJs.
Rather than focusing on MBTI's, I will pick the most hated characters that I love and see how familiar we are. Maybe even explain that this person is nice!

I know I picked a good candidate because as soon as you google her, everyone is talking about what a brat she is. In Hye is probably hated more than the real villains of the story and it is very unfair.
First of all, she's a teenager! A lot of people have forgotten that she's just a kid. Yes, she can be mean and bratty, but why we're comparing her to her ADULT sisters?
Oh In Hye never had a stable home; her mum is more interested in running off with a man than watching her children.
The sisters try to be better, but they're usually not there for her. Also, let's not forget that they embarrass her too. Oh In Kyung's drunk shouting is one of the scenes that still makes my skin crawl from cringe.
I also believe that love can be suffocating. Yes, the sisters wanted the best for In Hye but for her it might have been too much pressure.
"I was afraid I'd end up unworthy of the love you showed me."
Does it make her being cold, choosing the rich family to have what she wants, better? No, but we can understand her thought process better.
I will never blame her for wanting to get out of poverty. She saw what the older sisters did with their lives and how they were not moving much.
But here is an opportunity to have a better, more comfortable life, which can also be achieved faster. Why not take it?

How can people crave a strong female character when they can't handle Yoon Hye Jin?
The hate toward her calmed down as more episodes came out. In later episodes, she becomes softer, more open to the environment and less focused on work.
Everyone always talks about wanting a strong and independent female character, but when we get one, people start hating. Make it make sense!
I do agree that she had some bad qualities, she is judgemental towards the townspeople and is acting a bit snobbish.
However, this kind of community was never available to her. She grew up alone, without parents, so noisy neighbours will never make a good first impression.
While the drama was airing there was a lot of discourse about how Yoon Hye Jin is just a typical male lead. Cold, and snobbish until he finds the person he loves. So why do we always eat up roles like that but don't let women have their growth?
I'm happy that the whole she has built throughout the years has been demolished but I could never hate her before that.

I'm picking both because they get the same amount of hate. In one episode people would hate Hyun Woo, the next it will be Hae In.
Let's start with Hong Hae In. We see her as a very cold, calculative character. She could never understand poor people and is doing everything for profit. Also, very focused on her work.
She also has a softer side that was later hidden from Hyun Woo. She never shows her emotions, and that's why people come to dislike her.
They both lack communication skills, so I won't put it only on Hae In. It does come after quite a traumatic experience, and how differently they both dealt with it. Let's try to understand them and their mistrust of one another.
For Hyun Woo, I believe, it was just some phrases he said about his wife. It does come from a reasonable situation, but do you need to be this happy when your wife is dying?
I also think a lot of hate towards him because of discussions like the green/red flag. I never took them seriously but some people actually want characters to be only just one thing.
In the end, they found their way to be better people, and I'm happy about it. Some people still have not forgiven them, but there is growth in both characters.
Let me know your thoughts on them or the characters that you like!
