It's been a long month, but somehow it has gone by so quickly. There are some dramas from the list that caught my attention that I'll remember for a long time. There were also dramas that I had forgotten I had watched.
How was your May? Did you find something you enjoyed?

First impression: I heard mixed reviews, but the first episode left me intrigued
Last impression: It was so underwhelming
Synopsis: A man witnesses an accident and makes a life-altering deal. Ju Yeon, a surgeon haunted by childhood trauma, encounters the person responsible for it. A man, desperate to change his life, loses everything after borrowing from loan sharks to invest in cryptocurrency. Gil Ryong, unfairly fired, is forced into a dangerous situation involving money. Meanwhile, a bespectacled man runs a successful private clinic in Gangnam, with a dangerously alluring girlfriend, Yu Jeong. (Mydramalist)
This drama showcases the nature of horrible people, and it is interesting to watch. As a viewer, you keep wondering what is going to happen next and how everything is connected.
In this regard, drama did wonderfully. It made me curious.
However, when the big reveal happens, and now it's time for some kind of revenge, it falls flat. I'm not sure if it's because they didn't have much time or what, but I expected something more from Doctor Ju Yeon or the detectives.
It feels like the story was not fully finished, though all the characters had their endings.
The acting was nice, and I have nothing to say but compliments to the cast. On the other hand, don't expect to come and see very lovable characters; here you will meet the most despicable ones.

First impression: I'm so excited to see Hyeri on screen in a gl drama!
Last impression: This did not go the way I expected...
Synopsis: Woo Seul Gi, an orphan from a provincial town, moves to Seoul to attend an elite school for the top 1% of students. She struggles to fit in until she meets Yoo Jae Yi, the school's top student. Jae Yi is intelligent, wealthy, and aware of her status, and she becomes intrigued by Seul Gi. Their growing connection soon turns into a complex relationship marked by friendship and obsession. (Mydramalist)
I've been waiting for so long for it to come out on Viki, and I'm a bit disappointed. It's not like I had big hopes regarding romance, but it fell apart more than expected.
My favourite thing about the drama was the two leads: Seul Gi and Jae Yi, even as friends, they had great chemistry. I loved seeing them together and individually as they brought a lot of life to the characters.
The other students didn't really stick out. Yeri and Choi Gyeong are two classmates that we get to follow, but there is still not much to say about them, as they were more like shadows or background characters with a bit of background story.
I have to mention that Hyeri riding that skateboard was really cool.
It would have been better if the drama focused on that or other students. However, instead, we got drugs and a manipulative dad with an abused sister plot. I don't even want to mention Seul Gi's father.
Yes, at first they brought some interest, but by the end of it, the drama left me more confused than it should have been.
There are better dramas showcasing overbearing parents, drug problems at school and those little side plots. I don't even understand why we needed a story of one of the students being addicted to porn/masturbating. I'm sorry, but I don't want to see that, especially when it's the only time we care about the person.
This is based on a webtoon, and people say it has more romance in it, and maybe it's less confusing than the drama was. I'm not sure how it became such a mess, but I'm disappointed.
It was my time to fangirl over Hyeri, so it's okay. She was great in the drama!

First impression: It's interesting how subtitles also describe what is happening in the drama
Last impression: High School Musical, just with dancing
Synopsis: It follows the story of Cheong A, a top student who's always been focused solely on grades—until she develops the ability to hear the inner thoughts of a deaf classmate, Ji Seok. Together, they navigate friendship, understanding, and the barriers between the spoken and unspoken worlds. (Mydramalist)
This drama raises awareness for people with hearing impairments who use cochlear implants.
I can't speak much about the disability, but I learned a bit more through this drama. For example, it's better to speak facing them, so they can understand you fully. It's a short drama, so they can't put every struggle, but I think they did a good job of showing some of the things.
With these roles comes the question of who the actors are. Do they also have hearing impairments, just like the characters?
Well, Kim Ji Seok does have it and is from a K-pop group, Big Ocean. In the short drama, you could see two other members from the group.
Moving to the plot, it was alright. Ji Seok learns a way to be more confident with his disability and tries to achieve his dreams. It was nice to see, and I'm glad he had the chance and support to do that.
I wish there were no mind reading, but it's a quick way to get them talking. Cheong A became a dancer too out of nowhere, so that was a bit out of place. I understand that you have Lee Chae Yeon in your cast and you want to show her abilities, but it would have been better if she had been in the dancing group all along.
This is my nitpicking, probably. It is a good short drama that brings awareness, so if you want something different from a regular main lead, it's a good watch.

First impression: Is OBGYN really a good choice for such drama?
Last impression: I'll miss them so much...
Synopsis: Set at the Jongno branch of Yulje Medical Centre, the series follows the hospital lives and turbulent friendships of young obstetrics and gynaecology residents who proudly enter the unpopular department in an era of low birth rates. (Mydramalist)
At first, I was quite nervous about how everything would turn out. New characters that are quite awkward with each other. Also, I'm not that interested in their department, wouldn't it be more exciting to pick where more dramatic things happen?
Well, I learnt my lesson that giving birth to babies is quite stressful and dramatic sometimes for both the resident and the mother.
As the drama went on, I felt the connection between all the characters and how they slowly came together. They understood their differences and learned to work with them.
The stories of patients were also interesting (to my surprise). There were moments when I wanted to tear up, even if it was harder to relate to the topic.
Also, it was always fun to see cameos from Hospital Playlist characters!
My biggest dislike in the drama was the romance. I couldn't feel any chemistry between Oh Yi Young and Koo Do Won. Even until the end, there was nothing for me to look forward to, and I just skipped their scenes.
I solely focused on the stories of their lives, forgetting about romance.
Sa Bi and Jae Il had the potential to be the cutest couple, but we were robbed of that. Nam Gyeong had an interesting romance twist, but we need a second season to talk about it.
I appreciate obgyn department more after this drama. It was great at creating memorable, lovable characters and heartbreaking moments.
