Ranking K-actors' Works

Seeing new projects from your favourite actors is always exciting, but let's look back at the roles they played before. I did a tier list of my favourite dramas from the actors/actresses, and it's ranked by the characters they portrayed.

The tiers are pretty self-explanatory: their best work, it's alright, easily forgettable, and WHY?? The last one can be both angry, "Why on earth are you here??", but also a genuine question.

I don't know how I ended up choosing all Lee's, but at one point, it became a choice. At first, I tried to pick whoever was recently in the drama.

Do you agree with my opinions? Let me know in the comments!

Lee Dong Wook
ree

Let's start with the red tier: why??? "The Nice Guy" is nothing too bad, but the character brings nothing to the whole filmography. It's more of me questioning why he would choose such a boring role; there are not a lot of action scenes, not much romance either.

"Bad and Crazy" would have made a bigger impact if Lee Dong Wook had played both of the characters. I get that it's more mysterious to have another actor, but it was quite forgettable. "The Beauty Inside" is quite self-explanatory; the plot is that the main character changes every time they fall asleep, and once they wake up as Lee Dong Wook. I don't think he had a big role there either.

As much as I loved "Touched Your Heart" for fanservice (got the same couple as we did in "Goblin"), his character was nothing that special. "Tale of the Nine-Tailed" was alright, as the drama, Lee Dong Wook was fun there. Also, his reddish hair there??? All I live for.

I might be biased with "A Shop for Killers", I loved the drama a lot, so I want to see only good things. The action scenes he did were great.

"Goblin" was the first drama where I saw him, and he left a good impression on me with Gong Yoo as his great mate and In Na as his romantic interest. I don't think there will be a time when he won't be associated with the Grim Reaper.

And "Strangers from Hell" was the first time I saw him portray a psychopath. He was amazing in the role, and I wouldn't mind seeing that side of him more. It's always interesting to spice things up a bit.

Lee Da Hee
ree

Let's start with her best work. I put "Search WWW" at the top because I remember it getting a lot of hype surrounding the drama. She did a great job and also looked extremely pretty in the drama. In "The Beauty Inside" (don't mix it up with the movie), she plays this mean-spirited person who turns cute for the person she loves. She did quite well in this role, too.

"S Line", while it is a bit different from her usual trajectory, there was not a lot of her. She was this mysterious character and kind of stayed till the end. I liked the way she portrayed the teacher, but that's about it.

"I Can Hear Your Voice" is quite similar; her character was a rival to the female lead, and they always butted heads. One moment I can remember quite vividly, though, is her standing up in a trial with a prosecutor's gown.

At first, I thought about separating "Island" seasons/parts, but I don't remember anything about her character, so it goes to the forgotten part.

A bit more memorable drama was "Love is for Suckers", but it's mostly because of the irony. She is the host of "Single's Inferno", a dating show, and in the drama, she is the producer of a similar show.

And the category WHY is really WHYY... "L.U.C.A" is not good, but also her character acts questionably; nothing in that drama made sense.

Lee Jong Suk
ree

He is probably the actor I've seen the most of. Every project Lee Jong Suk is in, I'll be watching.

Starting from the best: "Pinocchio" is my first ever drama, the reason why I started watching them, so it cannot be in any other place. And "W: Two Worlds" is my all-time favourite and comfort drama. I'm very biased, and I'll always be, but I love the characters he portrayed in both of these. Also, I decided to watch "Pinocchio" because I saw a scene of him crying, so...

On the other hand, I hated "V.I.P.", but I was very surprised to see Lee Jong Suk as a psychopath. "Big Mouth" is quite similar, not my favourite drama of his, but the double roles he had to play were truly impressive.

In the alright tier, all the dramas helped him blossom in one way or another, and they were quite lovely to watch.

Except for "The Hymn of Death", which was more of a traumatic experience. It gave us a very melancholic Lee Jong Suk.

I had to include "Secret Garden" because it was easily forgettable, despite being there as a supporting actor. I remember being surprised to see him, so young and with red hair. "Decibel" disappointed me because he showed up only in the second half of the film.

For the last tier, I think I put "Law and the City" because he was there to be beautiful. Some bits reminded me of "Pinochio", but nothing more. I also wasn't very keen on "The Witch" world, but I heard he will star in the second part. He was there only for a brief moment, but it was disappointing.

Lee Sung Kyung
ree

I'll start with a controversial opinion to get it out of the way. Yes, I put "Doctor Romantic 2" in the last place. This is just my memory and beef with the drama. From what I remember, I didn't really like her character or her love interest, Ahn Hyo Seop.

I also didn't enjoy the second season, so this is going to the "WHY??" category.

Easily forgettable are just like that. "Sh**ting Stars" and "About Time" characters are completely erased from my head. "The Nice Guy" got a better position than Lee Dong Wook because here Lee Sung Kyung can show off her voice. No other character personality is needed (I guess) when you can sing.

"Miss & Mrs. Cops" would go to the "easily forgettable" tier, as I even forgot to add it.

She only had bits in "It's Okay, That's Love". A complicated teenage girl, the same thing in "Cheese in the Trap", but now she is in university. I do think it was great roles for her to showcase that she can be both a perfect mean girl and an insane one.

"Doctors" was probably the first role where I saw Lee Sung Kyung. She was the second lead, but it was interesting to watch her, and if I remember right, she was kind of a badass.

The number one, of course, has to be "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo". This has risen her career, and everyone was saying "Do you like Messi?" and "Swag". She was a clueless weightlifter who wanted just a bit of love, and her chemistry with Nam Joo Hyuk was great.
