Ranking Actors' Work #3

It's too fun not to do these posts. This is where I rank the actor's works, their characters, the drama itself, and of course, it has to be something I watched.

The tiers will be the same, but if you need a refresher: their best work, it's alright, easily forgettable, and WHY?? The last one can be both angry, "Why on earth are you here??", but also a genuine question.

Feel free to agree or disagree with my opinion in the comments! Or let me know what actors you would like to see next.

Park Shin Hye
Their best work: Pinocchio, The Heirs, The Judge from Hell, The Call. It's alright: Doctor Slump, Memories of Alhambra, Doctors. Easily forgettable: My Annoying Brother, Sisyphus: The Myth. WHY???: #Alive.

Starting from "Their best work", I'm a bit biased with "Pinocchio" because it was my first drama, and first time seeing Park Shin Hye. She was very cute there and had great chemistry with the leads, as well as amazing comedic timing.

The scene where she's working at a convenience store, scanning items while crying because she can't get a job in journalism, is still stuck in my mind.

But maybe that's because it's too relatable.

"The Heirs" has to be at the top because it's one of her most well-known and legendary dramas. While "The Judge from Hell" feels like it will be her new top drama, as I saw a lot of people obsessing over it. Her character there was more unusual than the roles she usually gets, and I feel like we needed to see that diversity.

A new side of her was given in the film "The Call". She gets to show various emotions, from being depressed to cheerful, to terrified, and I think she did a wonderful job with it.

"It's alright" is for the dramas that she still did a good job, but I feel something was missing.

There were some great badass scenes in "Doctors", especially the first episode, but the chemistry was not there.

I wanted to get to know her character more in "Memories of Alhambra", but she looked really pretty in this, especially her game character. And "Doctor Slump" was good too, but nothing special to put it in the top tier.

"Easily forgettable" tier isn't that bad either, but I completely forgot her character in "My Annoying Brother"; all I remember is crying my eyes out, and not because of her.

"Sisyphus: The Myth" didn't really stick with me, either.

Park Shin Hye's character was not that great in "#Alive". She doesn't show up for the first half, and when she does, we never actually get to know her. It's not much on the actress because that is the script, but there are better things to watch with her.

Ji Sung
Their best work: Kill Me Heal Me, Defendant, The Devil Judge. It's alright: Familiar Wife, Doctor John. Easily forgettable: Entertainer, Connection. WHY???: Adamas.

Again, from the top, "Kill Me, Heal Me" perfectly showcases Ji Sung's abilities. In the drama, he plays 7 different personalities, all with their own quirks and character. He has done an amazing job there, and from then I knew I had to watch every work he is in.

"Defendant" had an amazing script, which helps, but again, Ji Sung's acting blew my mind. On a similar level, "The Devil Judge" stands. The tension between him and Jinyoung's character was amazing! (Still mad they're not canon)

It's hard to put "Familiar Wife" in the second tier because I really loved it while watching, and even now, seeing edits, it's great. The yearning in Ji Sung's eyes, the hate you feel for him, at first as you watch him change. Everything is great, but compared to the other three, it's not as strong.

"Doctor John" was interesting and had great moments, but again, it's on the same level as the top dramas.

There was a good storyline in "Entertainer", but this drama is so underrated that nobody knows it. Also, rather than remembering Ji Sung, I mostly remember the band and Hyeri.

I thought a lot about where I should put "Connection", Ji Sung's acting is good (always is), but the story was meh, that's the only reason why I'm deducting the points. This drama was good in that it allowed Ji Sung to act as a drug addict.

Something new for him.

"Adamas" is just boring and bad. Doesn't bring anything new to Ji Sung's filmography.

I recently started "The Judge Return", his newest drama, and for now it would go into "WHY???" tier, but maybe later on I'll understand why he picked this role.

Seo Hyun Jin
Their best work: Black Dog, Another Miss Oh. It's alright: You Are My Spring, Dr. Romantic 1. Easily forgettable: The Beauty Inside. WHY??: Why Her?

At the very top, we have "Black Dog", which deserves more appreciation. If you like the teacher side of school and slower-paced dramas, this might be the one for you.

This is where I noticed how much she enjoys acting; the way she creates different quirks to her characters is such an interesting watch. If I remember right, it was lip biting or something similar for that character, and I just want to put this in the top tier.

It shows how much she thinks everything through to get into a character.

A very popular drama from the time was "Another Miss Oh". Because of the popularity, the drama added two more episodes! There are many emotional scenes, and I think it was a perfect drama for her at the time.

Loud, emotional, but quite memorable.

Her characters have quite witty dialogue, and "You Are My Spring" is probably the best for that. It would have been great if it were popular among the public, but it's another hidden gem. As much as it's good, it didn't carry that lasting impression on me.

I feel a bit conflicted with "Dr. Romantic 1", it has the ratings and she did great in the drama. However, as I rewatch videos from it, I don't find anything special.

Her newest drama, "Love Me", is still on my current watch (6 episodes in). For now, it would go to the second tier. Seo Hyun Jin always does a great job, so it's hard to rate, but I feel like other actors are outshining her a bit.

Though the drama is still very good, her character is really interesting.

She's a main character in "The Beauty Inside", but the whole plot is that her body changes; she can wake up as a child, a man, a granny, etc. It's an interesting project, especially when the film is very well done, but she didn't stand out in the drama much.

I understand "Why Her?" a bit. It had an interesting start, and if you only have this to go off of, before you decide if you want to appear in the drama, you say yes. However, this turned out into a shit show, and let's forget that Seo Hyun Jin was even in this project.

Shin Hae Sun
Their best work: Angel's Last Mission: Love, The Legend of the Blue Sea, Still 17. It's alright: Welcome to Samdal-ri, The Hymn of Death, She Was Pretty. Easily forgettable: See You In My 19th Life, School 2013, A Day, Oh My Ghost. WHY???: High School King of Savvy.

She was perfect for "Angel's Last Mission: Love", and it will always stay as my favourite work of hers. It's amazing how much work she put into playing a ballerina. The dedication for this role is already top-tier, so add great characters and a storyline, and you get this drama.

I don't remember much of "The Legend of the Blue Sea", but what stayed in my memory was how annoying Shin Hae Sun's character was.

She was playing a second-female lead, and as you might know, they're always a bit evil. Yes, the drama goes with that pathetic stereotype, but this has made me notice Shin Hae Sun in other projects.

"Still 17" is not my favourite drama of hers, but she did so well at playing a teenager who woke up in this 'old' lady's body.

Moving on to the second tier, there are some really great works. "Welcome to Samdal-Ri" gave us an annoying side of the actress, which was fun to watch. It was quite well done, friends to lovers to exes to lovers.

"She Was Pretty" character was quite funny, and was great as a secondary couple.

The scene where she's chasing a bus with her crush in there, and the bus driver doesn't stop because: "It's not a taxi" was the funniest shit back then.

For some reason, "The Hymn of Death" feels like a fever dream. Her acting is great as always, but I just don't think it brought anything new, just trauma to viewers.

"Easily forgettable" tier mostly contains dramas where I don't remember her much because she was a small character, or I just deleted it from my memory. "School 2013" and "A Day" are the best examples for that.

I do remember her playing a character in a wheelchair in "Oh My Ghost", but it's a small role.

Sadly, I know her role in "See You In My 19th Life", but this should go to bin.

Some people enjoy this drama, and her character is very interesting, so not completely "WHY???" tier. However, I still want to forget it exists.

"High School King of Savvy" is similar in that I don't remember her character. However, for anyone who is in this drama, I have one question: WHYYYYY???
