I feel like I finished so many dramas in June that I need something new and exciting in my life. It also feels like this year we're getting a lot of healing dramas, so maybe it is time for another one.

It seems like the second half of the month would be more amusing, and so many comedies are coming out!

Are there any dramas you can't wait to see?

Mary Kills People

Starring: Lee Bo Young, Lee Min Ki, Kang Ki Young

Synopsis: Woo So Jeong is a doctor. Even though it is illegal, she helps terminally ill patients who are suffering from pain with euthanasia. She does this with Dr. Choi Dae Hyeon. Detective Cho Hyeon U works to track them down. Cho Hyeon U is a terminally ill patient with a brain tumour. (Asianwiki)

Out: August 1

ree

Starring: Gong Seung Yeon, Yoo Joon Sang, Kim Jae Yeong, Hong Soo Hyun, Oh Hyun Joong

Synopsis: It tells the story of Kang Yeo Reum, a former idol who has never been the centre of attention in her life, and her journey to find true success and discover the meaning of life as a travel reporter who embarks on trips on behalf of others. Despite being known as the icon of positivity and optimism at work, Kang Yeo Reum hides anxiety about the future behind her happy façade. The drama captures beautiful scenery of various travel destinations and provides heartwarming stories and healing for viewers. (Mydramalist)

This appears to be the month's healing drama. The female lead and others will get to explore their characters while we, hopefully, enjoy the lovely journey.

I'm excited to see the actors, Gong Seung Yeon and Kim Jae Yeong, together. I know they will all do a great job in their roles.

What struck me by surprise, however, is that the drama list already has the second season listed. I wonder what the thought process behind it is, and if the director already knows that 10 episodes will not be enough to tell the story.

This is also adapted from a novel, Tabiya Okaeri, by Harada Maha, and has a Japanese adaptation as well. I have not read or seen it, but I wonder how much they will differ.

Starring: Yeom Jung Ah, Park Hae Joon, Choi Yun Ji, Kim Min Kyu

Synopsis: Lee Ji An is a single mother who has lived firmly with her confidence as her weapon. She works as a construction site manager, her daughter is Lee Hyo Ri, and she is a medical school student. Lee Hyo Ri is the pride of Lee Ji An's life, and she means everything to her. Things change for Lee Ji An when her daughter begins to rebel, and Lee Ji An's first love enters her life again. Her first love is Ryu Jeong Seok. He is a single father and lives peacefully with his son Ryu Bo Hyeon. (Mydramalist)

At first, I wasn't so sure about this drama. Yes, it has great casting, but the synopsis doesn't seem that interesting. Yet another second-chance romance, it's not the first we've received this year.

However, then I saw that the director is Yoo Je Won, and if you don't know him by name, you definitely know his work: Tomorrow With You, Oh My Ghost, Hometown Cha Cha Cha, Crash Course in Romance, Love Next Door and more.

His dramas are not always my cup of tea, but I know that they'll be interesting to watch and make me reflect on some things.

Now my expectations are high.

Our Golden Days

Starring: Jung Il Woo, Jung In Sun, Yoon Hyun Min

Synopsis: Lee Ji Hyeok is a competent person who is recognised both at work and in love. He is proactive and cold-hearted, but he also has a sense of humour. He looks glamorous, but after experiencing the lowest point of his life, he finds the true meaning of life. He has people around him, including Ji Eun O and Park Seong Jae. Once, Ji Eun O had a crush on Lee Ji Hyeok, and she was rejected; even after that, she still stayed by him. Park Seong Jae is Lee Ji Hyeok's friend. Park Seong Jae, who grew up in a wealthy family, is relaxed and well-mannered, but he holds a deep feeling of loneliness inside. He feels a sense of connection with Lee Ji Hyeok and his family, but Park Seong Jae is torn between love and friendship. (Mydramalist)

Out: August 9

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty

Starring: Lim Yoon A, Lee Chae Min, Kang Han Na, Choi Gwi Hwa

Synopsis: Yeon Ji Yeong is a French chef with a cheerful yet strong personality. On the day she wins the best cooking competition in France, Ji Yeong suddenly ends up in the Joseon Dynasty. Instead of the Michelin 3-star bistro in Paris where she was offered the job as head chef, she meets the worst tyrant and has to prepare fusion royal cuisine for him. (Mydramalist)

Out: August 12

ree

Starring: Uhm Jung Hwa, Song Seung Heon, Lee El, Oh Dae Hwan

Synopsis: A realistic romance drama that depicts the comeback of top star Im Se Ra, who had a career gap of 25 years after receiving the youngest Best Actress Award and getting into an accident on the day she was at the peak of her career. Dokgo Cheol is a bachelor detective who vowed to himself that he would get married before he turned 40, but lost his motivation and passion as time passed. A romantic who dreams of a passionate love, he meets Im Se Ra and begins a mutually beneficial romance. (Mydramalist)

I was a bit sceptical about it when I saw the teaser post, even now, I would say I don't have many expectations for it.

But I want it to be entertaining. A lot of people have enjoyed Good Casting. Miss Night and Day, by screenwriter Park Ji Ha, was also entertaining, so this drama should be in this, too.

Another thing that sounds promising about the drama is the actors. They all did comedic roles in the past and are known to be good at them. It will be interesting to see the whole group together and see what the writer and director have planned.

ree

Starring: Lee Ha Nee, Bang Hyo Rin, Jin Seon Kyu, Jo Hyun Chul

Synopsis: In 1980s Chungmuro, the heart of South Korea’s film industry, Jung Hui Ran reigns as the nation's top actress. With a fiery temper and an uncompromising personality, she never hesitates to speak her mind or call out wrongdoing. She is set to star in "Madame Aema", the latest film from producer Koo Jung Ho, a ruthless industry veteran who will do anything to stay on top. However, when Jung Hui Ran proves too difficult to control, Koo Jung Ho makes a bold decision - he drops her from the film and holds a large-scale auction to find her replacement. The role ultimately goes to Sin Ju Ae, a nightclub dancer with big dreams of becoming an actress. Furious at being cast aside, Jung Hui Ran refuses to back down. (Mydramalist)

I'm not sure if it was the synopsis or the cover design of the drama. It radiates old Hollywood and is interesting to look at.

This month has a lot of 'stars' that have already had their time to shine, and now they need to find something else. I wonder what kind of route this drama will take compared to the other two, just from this month.

For now, the only downside of the drama seems to be the lack of episodes. I haven't even watched it yet, but can we fit everything in 6 episodes??

ree

Starring: Ma Dong Seok, Park Hyung Sik, Seo In Guk, Sung Dong Il, Lee Joo Bin, Ko Kyu Pil, Kamg Mi Na, Sung Yoo Bin, Ahn Ji Hye, Regina Lei

Synopsis: Twelve animals received a call from heaven and came down to the human world to save it. They are each given their powers to protect humans and are reborn as twelve angels. Led by the tiger angel Tae San, the angels fight a bloody battle to protect the human world against the demons and their king, Asura, who was hated and banished by God. (Mydramalist)

Maybe I'm putting too much hope in it and later will get burned, but all I needed was a synopsis to get excited. As a fan of fantasy, this seems to have an interesting storyline and amazing cast surrounding it.

I do wonder if it will be somehow similar to Death's Game, with so many actors in main roles. Of course, the story is different, but they might get an episode or less for their story.

I'm ready for this.
