How have May dramas been treating you? Personally, I can't keep up with work and the drama schedule while I'm trying to include some travelling and meeting friends, but I'm doing my best.
If you're like me, let's see what June brings and whether we need to add more dramas to our 'currently watching' list.
What K-drama are you most excited about?
A Woman Who Swallowed the Sun

But everything changed when his younger brother, Nam Gi Seok, joined their rival gang. To protect his brother, Nam Gi Jun made a brutal choice - he left Bongsan for good, severing his left Achilles tendon as proof that he would never return. Eleven years later, he has no intention of going back. But when Nam Gi Seok, now the second-in-command of Joowoon, is found dead under suspicious circumstances, Nam Gi Jun knows he can't stay away. To find the truth and take revenge, he steps back into the underworld he swore to leave behind - where old grudges still burn, power has shifted, and nothing is as it seems. (AsianWiki)
This drama has a similar vibe to Ji Chang Wook's drama The Worst of Evil. Yes, there is no undercover cop, but as it has gangs, it is almost the same. That's why I'm curious about the plot, how everything will hold up.
Revenge stories can be so good, and I hope this will be the one.
The actors, who are starring in this role, are also well-known for being great. From So Ji Sub, who's not doing many dramas, so we can expect it to be good, to Gong Myung, who is doing his third drama of the year! He is working hard this year, and so far it seems like a good year.

Starring: Seo Hyun, Ok Taec Yeon, Kwin Han Sol, Seo Bum June, Ji Hye Won
Synopsis: University student K is an ordinary young woman, but one day, she finds herself in her favourite romance novel set during historical times. She has now become the minor character Cha Seon Chaek. She is the daughter of a wealthy noble family, and her dream is to have a peaceful and normal life. Cha Seon Chaek, while possessed by K, then spends one night with Lee Beon, the lead male character in the novel. (Mydramalist)
This is adapted from a webtoon that I've read, so it might be very good or bad. I don't want to go in with a lot of expectations, but I know that I had tons of fun reading the webtoon.
It is a bit sad that the styling details will be completely different. The webtoon had more of a Western style of clothes, but I understand that it's cheaper to do Korean style.
What calms me a little is that the director made My Perfect Stranger, which I enjoyed. So, I want to have at least a tiny bit of hope that it will not turn into See You in My 19th Life.

Starring: Namkoong Min, Jeon Yeo Been, Lee Sol, Seo Hyeon Woo
Synopsis: Lee Je Ha received worldwide attention for his debut film and was called a genius, but he has been obsessed with a possible sophomore jinx. Deciding to end his 5-year hiatus, Lee Je Ha begins to work on his second film. The screenplay will tell a romance story involving someone with only a limited amount of time to live. While doing research for the movie, Lee Je Ha meets Lee Da Eum. She is an aspiring actress and suffers from a rare, incurable disease. She advises Lee Je Ha on his movie and becomes interested in the script. This becomes a turning point for her as an aspiring actress. As they work on the romance movie together, Lee Je Ha and Lee Da Eum, who have their illnesses, form a romantic relationship. (AsianWiki)
This will be the drama that will break our hearts into pieces, I can already feel it.
It's a debut work for both screenwriters (Han Ga Eun, Kang Gyeong Min), but seeing the director, who did Inspecto Koo and Nobody Knows, makes me think that this is going to be a strong work. Even if it is a bit different from his usual genre of mystery.
Also, a debut work and already pulling such great actors like Namkoong Min, Jeon Yeo Been, is already an achievement.
People already have so many expectations for this drama, just by looking at the cast, and I hope it can meet them all. A small notice, that this is another drama that's about movies... I did enjoy the first one with Choi Woo Shik and Park Bo Young, so...
Hunter with a Scalpel
Starring: Park Ju Hyun, Park Yong Woo, Kang Hoon
Synopsis: It depicts the past of a prominent female forensic investigator suffering from antisocial personality disorder and the process in which the shadow of the father she killed threatens her honour and life. (Mydramalist)
Airs on: June 16

Starring: Lee Si Young, Jung Young Joo, Kim Da Som, Nam Gi Ae
Synopsis: It is about 4 housewives who are overwhelmed with housework, ignored by others, and who sometimes have to put aside their dreams for the sake of their families, solving cases by listening to the stories of victims who have been overlooked and tracking down evidence in their daily lives. (Mydramalist)
I'm predicting that it is going to be an underrated gem just by looking at the director, Min Jin Gi. He's done works such as Circle and When the Devil Calls Your Name.
The plot already seems fun: four older female leads who will bring such different vibes to the drama. Jung Young Joo is associated with great comedy roles; Lee Si Young has more elegant, mysterious vibes. Nam Gi Ae can be a bit mean, while Kim Da Som will be the youngest of the group.
This is, of course, just my perception from what I've seen them in other dramas, so I'm looking forward to seeing if my predictions come true.
Also, I can't miss a mystery drama, so you'll see me watching it no matter what.

Starring: Cho Yi Hyun, Choo Young Woo, Cha Kang Yoon, Choo Ja Hyun
Synopsis: Park Seong A is a high school student, but at night, she is a shaman named Fairy Cheon Ji. She is famous as Fairy Cheon Ji, and is busy working with clients who come to ask about their future, fortune, illnesses, and other things. One night, Bae Gyeon U and his mother come to visit Fairy Cheon Ji. Park Seong A has a crush on him at first sight, but she sees that he is destined to die soon. The next day, Bae Gyeon U appears in front of her as a new transfer student in her class. She decides to save him from his destiny. (Mydramalist)
The poster, for me, is the biggest draw to this drama. I read a comment that it has a retro vibe, which I agree but it also gives us details about the drama without having characters in it. It's just not very usual.
I do enjoy the fantasy genre, so I'm excited for it, but I'm curious how it will stand out from other shaman dramas. The plot also seems fun and light-hearted, except for the deadly part.
Love Phobia
Starring: Yeon Woo, Kim Hyun Jin, Jo Yoon Seo, Choi Byung Chan
Synopsis: This is a sweet but quite bloody story of overcoming traumas. It effectively combines the material of VR blind date with the romantic comedy genre that all generations around the world can relate to, presenting something new that has never been seen before. (Mydramalist)
Airs on: June 27
